Our Story

I've always loved the dramatic impact of architectural mouldings in a room—ceilings appear higher, doors look custom-made, suddenly changing the feel of the whole home.

The thing is, getting that look isn't so easy. You either have to hire it out (expensive, messy, and time-consuming) or spend days—or even weeks—attempting a complicated DIY project measuring, cutting, and installing moulding yourself with power tools and messy glue—not to mention the steep learning curve if you've never installed moulding before. And if you're renting, it's even tougher.

Two experiences brought my idea into focus.

At the time, we were remodeling our own home and wanted raised-panel doors throughout the house. Replacing every door with solid-core paneled doors wasn't in the budget, so we purchased solid-core flat panel doors and planned to add moulding instead. The problem? My husband had the tools, but he was busy, and I didn't have the skills—or the time—to learn how to do it myself.

Around that same time, I helped my sister move out of her apartment. She's an incredibly talented interior designer, and the way she had decorated the space was beautiful. But once everything was packed up and removed, I was struck by how dramatically the apartment changed.

Between those two experiences—and my longtime appreciation for architecture and decorative millwork—it clicked. By adding mouldings to a room, the entire space can be transformed. Suddenly, it has character and substance, and there's less need for layers of decorating or accessories because the mouldings do that work for you. But to achieve this effect, it has to be quality millwork—not an imitation.

What If?

I remember thinking: What if there was a way to get the custom look of architectural mouldings without all the complexity?

I searched and searched everywhere, but I couldn't find anything that filled this gap. There was no premium, pre-assembled moulding system that allowed homeowners and renters to achieve the look of custom millwork without specialized tools or carpentry skills.

Turning an Idea Into Reality

That gap became the foundation for Luxe Architectural® — and the beginning of a product category that simply didn't exist before.

During the recession, around 2010, when our family design/build business was slow, I had more time to work on my idea. I started sketching moulding patterns, researching adhesives, and making prototypes—determined to make door and wall mouldings that were beautiful, easy to install, and renter-friendly.

For me, there was one thing that was non-negotiable: I would never compromise on quality. My product had to be the real deal—crafted from premium wood moulding.

Why Wood?

From the beginning, I knew Luxe Architectural® moulding kits would be made from real wood—never foam, PVC, or MDF. While these materials have become common in the industry, I wanted a product that looked, felt, and performed like traditional millwork. Wood offers the warmth, character, and craftsmanship that first inspired me to create Luxe Architectural®—and that standard has never changed.

My First Customers

After months of development, I created the first self-adhering (peel & stick) real wood moulding kit and was excited—and nervous—to test the market on Etsy. I had worked so hard, and now came the moment of truth. I eagerly awaited people's response. Would anyone actually buy it?

Days passed…and then it happened—my first sale… then a second… then a third.

I still remember the names of my very first customers.

From that modest beginning, we've continued to grow and improve, determined to bring the best possible product to market. What started as an idea to help people make homes more welcoming has become Luxe Architectural®—patent-pending self-adhering moulding kits handcrafted in California, USA by finish carpenters using premium real wood moulding.
