Most of my product picks are from Emtek and Baldwin (I have, in no way, been compensated for this post, and I do not have any affiliation with these companies. I’m just passing along helpful suggestions from years of experience in the design and construction industry 😊).
Emtek and Baldwin are well-known manufactures that have been around for a long time. Their products are of good quality and reasonably priced. If you’ve held lesser quality door hardware in your hand, say at a big-box home improvement store, and then picked up a higher quality one at a door and hardware store, it becomes clear why there’s a price difference. There is a weight to it, and it just feels good in your hand. That’s why I like Emtek and Baldwin; they are good quality, stylish, and reasonably priced. In fact, for my recent product photoshoots, I only used Balwin and Emtek hardware. Both companies allow you to easily customize your hardware, so you can curate a selection that suits you and your home, from the style of the rose (the base of the knob or lever) to several finish options!
PRO TIP: When shopping for new door hardware, take one of your old doorknobs with you. This will help your salesperson determine the correct size latch and backset you’ll need, so making the swap will be easy!
The door knobs/levers pictured below are available online as a double passage, with the least expensive starting at $72. I like to purchase from www.DoorHardwareCenter.com for a few main reasons:
• They’re knowledgable, so if you’re new to swapping out door hardware, they will help you find the correct configuration before you place an order!
• Their pricing is competitive. They also offer trade discounts and a good return policy.
• If ordering online feels a little daunting, visit your local door and hardware store to speak with their knowledgable staff.

H. Theophile I've included this one, because I think it is so cool! H.Theophile custom makes monogrammed door knobs according to the artwork you supply. Needless to say, it's pricey and there are minimum order requirements. |

It's easiest to swap out hinges on existing doors, if you match up the size and style (rounded or square corners) and match the screw hole pattern
If it's in the budget, ball bearing hinges are the best choice. Prices vary from $15 pair and up.
